The average net monthly salary in Lithuania rose by EUR 116 (9.3%) to EUR 1,365 last year, the State Data Agency reported on Thursday.
The average gross salary grew by EUR 204 (10.2%) to EUR 2,218. Real wages increased by 8.5% in 2024.
The chief economist at Swedbank, Nerijus Maciulis, said on Thursday that rising wages were also behind last year’s record growth in employment.
“This is a positive factor which also helps to boost employment,” he said at a news conference.
The highest pre-tax salaries were paid in the information and communications technology sector (around EUR 3,981, on average) and the financial and insurance sector (EUR 3,574).
The main drivers in salary growth included a hike in the minimum wage as of January 2024, higher salaries paid at public sector institutions, and changes in how the non-taxable income threshold is calculated, the statistics office reported.
