The Offshore Racing Congress (ORC) on Tuesday approved Estonia as the organizer of the ORC World Championship 2025.
Since the right to organize the European Championship 2025 was given to the organizers of Spain’s most important offshore regatta — the Copa del Rey — in Mallorca, Palma, an organizer from among the northern countries of Europe had to be found for the World Championship, which was originally supposed to be held in the Mediterranean Sea, due to the north-south venue rotation.
A direct offer was made to Estonia in August thanks to previous well-organized ORC title competitions. The ORC and sailors vividly remember the European Championship 2015, organized jointly by the Kalev Yacht Club and the Parnu Yacht Club, in Parnu and the World Championship 2021 in Tallinn. The latter was also co-organized by the Pirita TOP City Tallinn Olympic Yachting Center and the Tallinn Yacht Club.
The final dates of the World Championship to be held in Tallinn in 2025 will be determined after negotiations with other organizers of the 2025 title competitions in January of next year, but the organizers have proposed either the second week of August or the third week of July for the competition.
