Gobox, a brand of Sanitex OU, has won a public tender of state-owned passenger train operator AS Eesti Liinirongid, or Elron, for the provision of catering services for passengers on Elron’s six new Skoda electric trains.
“The possibility to buy a lighter meal on board is something Elron passengers have been asking for for a very long time,” Pille Kauber, business development manager at Elron, said in a press release. “The new long-distance passenger trains coming into service in 2025 will therefore have a larger comfort class than the current fleet, complete with food service,” she added.
Kauber explained that standard class trains will have a food service area with vending machines serving hot and cold drinks as well as snacks. The business class section of long-distance trains will have a coffee machine of their own for hot drinks.
Kalle Vaikmaa, head of the Gobox department at Sanitex, said their aim is to offer comprehensive modern vending solutions that are based on the needs, wishes and consumer habits of specific sites.
“We have developed a solution where the customer can take a product from a cabinet and pay for it at the self-service cash register,” he explained.
