Berlin (dpa) – Kontron Transportation, a subsidiary of German tech company Kontron Group, said on Tuesday it had received a €26 million ($30 million) order from Czech Republic’s national railway operator Czech Railways.
In a statement, Kontron said the project was commissioned by the state organization Správa železnic (SŽ) and involves the rail network modernization on a route stretching from the German border to the Czech cities of Dolní Žleb, Kralupy and Vltavou.
The contract follows a previous €34 million contract awarded in late 2024 for expanding the GSM-R system in the country, which provides voice and data services required for daily railway operations.
“Správa železnic has been a highly valued customer for many years, and we are very pleased to be able to contribute to the further modernization of rail transport in the Czech Republic,” said Petr Vitek, chief executive of Kontron Transportation in Prague.
