Estonian police temporarily closed the Luhamaa border crossing with Russia on Sunday after two Iranian nationals repeatedly attempted to enter the country without legal grounds.
According to the Police and Border Guard Board (PPA), the two men destroyed their travel documents after arriving from Russian territory. They were sent back to Russia, but later made further attempts to cross into Estonia.
The PPA said Russian authorities had been informed of the situation but allowed the two individuals to continue trying to reach the Estonian border.
The Luhamaa crossing was therefore closed temporarily and will remain shut until the situation on the Russian side is resolved.
