Kempinski hotel in central Vilnius to be replaced by Hilton

The Grand Hotel Kempinski Vilnius located next to the capital’s central Cathedral Square will be replaced by Curio Collection by Hilton, an upscale hotel brand of Hilton, a leading global hospitality company, in May.

Apex Alliance Hotel Management said it has been chosen as the operator of what will be the luxury brand’s first hotel in the Baltic countries.

According to Marius Jakulis Jason, owner of the Grand Hotel Kempinski Vilnius, a franchise agreement has been signed with Hilton, which owns more than 7,500 hotels worldwide. The agreement with the hotel’s current operator is being terminated by mutual agreement.

“After facing numerous challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the hotel industry has returned to its normal pace of operations, making it possible once again to budget revenues and expenses fairly accurately,” Jakulis Jason said in a press release.

“This year, we will increasingly compare our results with our budgets and 2023 results, rather than with those of 2019,” he said, adding that he remains on the look-out for “new investment opportunities both in Lithuania and beyond”.

Apex Alliance Hotel Management CEO Giovanni Valentini says that the company is expanding its portfolio of five-star hotels in Europe to four.

Curio Collection by Hilton is a global network of 160 five-star hotels situated in exclusive buildings or neighborhoods.

Apex Alliance Hotel Management, which is part of the Apex Alliance Group, manages 15 hotels in Italy, Romania, Poland, Lithuania and Latvia.

In Lithuania, it currently manages 5 hotels: Radisson Collection Astorija Vilnius, Park Inn by Radisson, Hilton Garden Inn Vilnius, Courtyard by Marriott City Center and Moxy Kaunas Center.

The company is planning to open two more Hilton hotels, in Venice and Tallinn, in 2024.

The five-star hotel of the world-famous hotel chain Kempinski opened in Vilnius in 2012 after seven years of construction. Investments in it amounted to around 40 million euros.
