Swedbank, one of the largest commercial banks in Lithuania, and the European Investment Fund (EIF) will jointly provide up to EUR 300 million in loans to businesses and residents across the Baltic states to support energy efficiency investments.

Swedbank and the EIF have signed the InvestEU Sustainability Guarantee agreement, which aims to promote the green transition of businesses and residential communities in the Baltics, the bank and EIF announced.

“The new agreement opens up even more opportunities for residents and businesses to invest in energy efficiency and serves as a significant incentive for green transformation in the Baltic region,” said Ignas Maceika, Head of the Corporate Customer Division at Swedbank.

Swedbank customers in the Baltics will be able to access InvestEU-backed loans for a wide range of energy-efficient solutions—from installing solar power systems to improving the insulation of apartment buildings.

According to Maceika, Swedbank and the EIF have already provided more than EUR 720 million in loans to clients in the Baltics since 2016.
