A drone that entered Estonian airspace from the east overnight into Tuesday may have travelled significantly farther into the country than initially indicated, with residents of Põlva reporting that they heard what appeared to be the aircraft above the city. Põlva is located around 35 kilometres from Estonia’s border with Russia.

The Estonian Defense Forces confirmed that two drones approached the country’s eastern border during the night, one near Narva and another in southeastern Estonia. While the Narva-bound drone reportedly turned back toward Russia without entering Estonian airspace, the second crossed the border, although the military has not publicly specified how far it travelled inside Estonia.

Several Põlva residents later contacted Estonian public broadcaster ERR, with one providing an audio recording made at 3:48 a.m. that captured a buzzing sound resembling a drone shortly after an EE-ALARM warning about a possible drone threat was issued.
