The main roads in Estonia were snowy and slippery in the early morning of Friday, the road conditions are particularly difficult in southern Estonia and the Transport Administration also warns that the required condition level of the roads is not guaranteed everywhere.
The condition of the main roads is somewhat better in East-Viru and West-Viru counties. Side roads and smaller roads are snowy and slippery all over Estonia and may be difficult to drive on due to snowfall. Due to the heavy snowfall, visibility is difficult in central and southern Estonia in the early morning and the air temperature is between -10 and -20 degrees Celsius, the Transport Administration said.
According to the weather forecast, snowfall will move from the south to the north and blizzards may occur in many places. The air temperature is -15 and -21 degrees Celsius during the day and -7 and -14 degrees Celsius on the islands.
“The low air temperature does not allow anti-slip measures to work effectively and the required level of condition of the roads is not guaranteed everywhere. Drivers are advised to avoid overtaking and sudden maneuvers and choose a driving speed suitable for the weather conditions,” the Transport Administration said.
