Venipak is introducing a new mobile app that will allow users to see all parcels linked to their account in one place, track their status, as well as register and pay for new shipments. The app will also allow users to find the nearest parcel locker, redirect a parcel there and open the parcel locker compartment directly from their phone. There will be no need to use a PIN or QR code, while in the case of a suspicious message, users will be able to verify parcel information in the official app without clicking on unfamiliar links. The app is available in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.
When arriving at a parcel locker, users will simply need to select the parcel they want to collect, open the Venipak app on their phone and tap the door-opening button. The relevant parcel locker compartment will open automatically, meaning there will be no need to use the parcel locker screen, enter a PIN or scan a QR code.
Aiming to make parcel collection simpler
“Our aim is to make parcel collection as convenient as possible by bringing the most important actions together in one place. The new app allows users to quickly access information about their parcels and open a parcel locker compartment directly from their phone. We see the app as a platform that we will continue to develop, gradually adding new solutions to make both receiving and sending parcels even easier,” says Sanita Bērziņa, CEO of Venipak Latvia.
An additional way to verify suspicious messages
The app will also be useful in situations where users are unsure whether an SMS or email they have received is genuine. Fraudsters are increasingly impersonating parcel delivery companies and sending fake messages about allegedly unsuccessful deliveries, asking recipients to update their address, make an additional payment or click on a provided link.
In the new app, users will be authenticated using their email address or phone number, while parcels intended for them will be linked to their verified user account. This means that if a user receives a suspicious message, they will first be able to check in the Venipak app whether the relevant parcel actually appears in their account.
“Fraudulent SMS messages and emails unfortunately will not disappear, so people will still need to remain vigilant. What is important, however, is to provide a simple and reliable way to verify the information they receive. If there are doubts about a message allegedly sent on behalf of Venipak, the user can open the official app and check whether the relevant parcel is actually linked to their account, without clicking on suspicious links,” explains Sanita Bērziņa.
