A Wizz Air flight from London to Kaunas in Lithuania was diverted on Thursday.
According to the flight tracking Website Flighradar24.com, the airplane turned back when it was over Poland and then returned to London. The change in course occurred above Olsztyn and Suwalki.
A spokesman for Lithuanian Airports, Tadas Vasiliauskas, told the BNS news agency on Friday, that the decision to turn back was down to technical issues.
“To the best of our knowledge, the Wizz Air flight from Luton Airport in London to Kaunas was diverted back to Luton due to technical problems while it was in Polish airspace,” Vasiliauskas said.
The spokesman also noted that other flights arriving in Lithuania were landing without problems.
A spokeswoman for Lithuania’s state-owned air navigation service provider Oro Navigacija, Ingrida Daugirde, told BNS that she had no information about the route change or why the plane turned back while in Polish airspace.
