A survey conducted by the telecommunications company Tele2 and the Norstat Latvija research firm has found that 86% of employed people in Latvia answer work-related phone calls whilst they are on vacation.
48% do not disconnect notifications about work E-mails or internal company chats, thus continuing to monitor information about what is happening there.
The Tele2 survey found that 33% of workers can disconnect from work during the first few days of their holiday, while 24% manage to do so only after a couple of days have passed.
On the other hand, 26% of respondents reported that they find it had to switch off from work completely, while 17% said that they could not do so at all. These latter people continue to deal with work issues while they are away.
The survey was conducted in June 2025 in co-operation with Norstat, with 1,001 respondents aged 18-74.
