One of season’s largest cruise ships set to call in Tallinn this week

Tallinn’s Old City Harbor is expecting visits from three cruise ships this week, including the 330-meter Britannia, which is one of the largest vessels to call in the Estonian capital this cruise season.

The first vessel to arrive in Tallinn is the 252-meter Aidadiva, which will arrive from Riga on Tuesday and then head on to Helsinki. The Italian-flagged ship is on a week-long tour starting and ending in Rostock. Aidadiva can been seen in the Old City Harbor again on May 28. All in all, the vessel, which cost 315 million euros to build, will visit Estonia on six occasions this cruise season.

The 330-meter Britannia will arrive from Helsinki on Saturday and head on to Copenhagen after its call in Tallinn. Together with Sky Princess of the same length, Britannia is one of the largest cruise ships visiting Estonia this season. The UK-flagged Britannia was personally christened by Queen Elizabeth II in the spring of 2015. Britannia is on a two-week tour starting and ending in Southampton. The vessel will call in Estonia for the second time this season at the end of September. During the summer months, it will alternately visit Spanish and French ports, Norwegian fjords and the Mediterranean Sea, and will also head to the Canary Islands for a period of time.

The final vessel of the week is MSC Poesia, which will arrive from Riga on Sunday and, similarly to Aidadiva, will head to Helsinki from Tallinn. The ship is 294 meters long and will be visiting Estonia for the second time this season. Sailing under the flag of Panama, MSC Poesia on a 11-day tour starting and ending in Rostock. In total, MSC Poesia will call in the Old City Harbor four times this year, although the next visit will not be until the beginning of September. In the intervening summer months, MSC Poesia’s schedule will be filled with numerous Scandinavian voyages. MSC Poesia, which cost 360 million US dollars to build, was christened on April 5, 2008 by Italian actress Sophia Loren.
