Ignitis Group, Lithuania’s state-owned energy group, still does not rule out participating in the second 700 MW offshore wind park tender in Lithuania, its CEO Darius Maikstenas says.
“We are looking it. As we do not have the full terms and conditions yet, we don’t have a final answer. There is a possibility that we will participate, but there is no final decision yet,” he told BNS on Friday in Vilnius.
Poland’s largest oil company Orlen is also considering taking part in Lithuania’s second tender for a wind farm in the Baltic Sea, planned in November, CEO Ireneusz Fafara told BNS last week when he visited Vilnius.
Maikstenas also downplayed the Lithuanian parliament’s recent decision allowing only one participant to take part in the tender with the possibility to apply for state aid. The parliament adopted such amendments in July after the first auction for the second offshore wind farm failed.
On the other hand, Maikstenas welcomed the amendments on the annual recalculation of the electricity sale price agreed with the developer, taking into account the inflation rate of the past year and the wholesale electricity price, as well as the amount of the state support, if requested.
The Ignitis Group CEO sees no difficulties for the company in developing at least three wind power projects in the Baltic Sea as its projects in Estonia are not due to be completed until after 2032, while in Lithuania they are scheduled to be completed by 2030, he said.
Ignitis Renewables, part of Ignitis Group, together with its partner Ocean Winds, a global offshore wind farm developer, won Lithuania’s first auction for an offshore wind farm to be developed without state aid last year, offering a 20 million euro development fee.
In addition, Ignitis Renewables, in cooperation with Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), a fund managed by the Danish investment firm, also won two Estonian offshore wind farm tenders last year and their the consortium will develop the 1-1.5 GW Liivi 1 and Liivi 2 projects in the Gulf of Riga.
