Lithuanian Foreign Ministry sets up hotline for businesspeople

The Lithuanian Foreign Ministry has set up a hotline to answer questions from businesspeople in the wake of new US tariffs on many countries, including the European Union. The hope is to help companies to navigate the changes which are occurring in US import policies so as to minimise potential losses, the ministry stated in a news release on Thursday.

“The tariffs imposed by the US will affect businesses in Lithuania and the EU,” says Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kestutis Budrys. “With this hotline, we hope to assist our country’s businesses by answering questions, providing necessary information and listening to their concerns.”

The ministry promises that specialists will help businesses in calculating US duty fees and learning about tariff conditions and potential changes when importing goods from the US to Europe, as well as on the issue of the EU’s retaliatory tariffs.

US President Donald Trump announced a blanket tariff of 20% on all imports from the EU on Wednesday.
