TS Laevad, subsidiary of listed Estonian port company AS Tallinna Sadam, has signed an additional agreement with the Ministry of Regional Affairs and Agriculture based on which the ministry will order additionally up to crossings by the ferry Regula on the Virtsu-Kuivastu route between Aug. 5 and 18, 2024.
For the additional departures in August, TS Laevad will be paid a fixed fee of 206,010 euros, plus a fee of 465 euros per trip. The parties have previously agreed that the fixed fee of TS Laevad for the period from June 20 to Aug. 4 for additional departures is 676,890 euros, plus a fee of 465 euros per trip. Together with the additional fixed fee for the extended period, the maximum total amount for additional trips is 1,127,025 euros, Tallinna Sadam informed the stock exchange.
In 2023, the Regula operated 474 demand-based departures during the period from June 1 to Sept. 17.
Similar to the last four years, the additional trips are based on the demand and TS Laevad will perform additional departures if at least 200 lane meters of vehicles have been left behind from a scheduled voyage, for the transfer of which a ticket for a scheduled voyage of the main vessel has been purchased, or it is best to perform a dangerous cargo voyage with a separate vessel. No additional voyages will be made at a time when Regula is required to perform the function of a replacement vessel in the event of a breakdown of other TS Laevad ferries or if the vessel itself experiences a malfunction.
TS Laevad operates the Virtsu-Kuivastu line between the mainland and the islands of Muhu/Saremaa with the ferries Piret and Toll, and the Rohukula-Heltermaa line to the island of Hiiumaa with the ferries Leiger and Tiiu. The Regula is an older back-up ferry belonging to the company.
