The annual Christmas Market is set to open in Dome Square, Riga’s Old Town, next Friday, LETA was told by Vecrīgas Ziemassvētku Tirdziņš, the company operating the market.
The Christmas Market will run until January 4 next year.
The market will be open to the public and will feature a wide range of crafts and homemade goods, as well as food and beverages from more than 80 vendors.
The official opening of the Riga Old Town Christmas Market, along with a concert, will take place on Sunday, November 30, at 5 p.m.
A variety of crafts and handmade products will be available at the stalls, including wickerwork, wooden items and toys, knitwear, amber and silver jewelry, board games, decorations, leather goods, candles, and sheepskin products. Visitors will also be able to purchase a selection of food and drinks such as honey, gingerbread, hemp products, meat products, jams, sauces, syrups, and both hot and cold beverages.
The market will offer entertainment for children: on weekends and public holidays they will be able to meet Santa and his elves, enjoy carousel rides, go on pony rides, see the sheep, and take part in creative workshops.
On weekends, the market will host a wide-ranging cultural program, from folklore and dance performances to DJ nights.

According to Firmas.lv, Vecrīgas Ziemassvētku Tirdziņš was registered in 2001. Last year, the company posted a turnover of EUR 354,000 and a profit of EUR 85,590. The company is wholly owned by Andris Kreislers.
