Latvia’s Air Baltic is set to launch flights between Vilnius and Dusseldorf in Germany from October 31, Lietuvos Oro Uostai (Lithuanian Airports, LTOU) said on Tuesday.
LTOU has signed an investment agreement with the Latvian carrier, which won the operator selection process.
The direct flights will run year-round, twice a week, with the option to increase the frequency if needed.
“Dusseldorf is a major economic hub in Germany. With the launch of this route, we will have flights to as many as six of Germany’s largest airports in the LTOU network, and ten regular routes between Lithuania and Germany,” Transport Minister Marius Skuodis was quoted as saying in a press release.
Dusseldorf Airport, located in the financial and industrial center of Western Germany, is one of the largest airports in the country.
