AJ Power Recycling AS, in cooperation with 3R SIA, is once again inviting companies to dispose of used passenger vehicle tyres free of charge as part of the environmental campaign “Give Tyres a Second Life.” Businesses will be able to hand over used tyres from 20 to 31 July at the 3R waste management complex, 4 Atlasa Street, Riga, after completing the electronic application form and booking a delivery time at www.3r.lv/akcija.
At the beginning of 2026, legal entities were invited for the first time to participate in the “Give Tyres a Second Life” campaign free of charge. During the first campaign dedicated to businesses, more than 166 tonnes of used tyres were collected for responsible recycling.
During the campaign, only passenger vehicle tyres will be accepted. Each legal entity may hand over up to 500 tyres. Tyres from trucks, agricultural machinery and industrial equipment will not be accepted free of charge. Tyres must be clean and without rims, and must not contain leaves, mud, soil or plastic waste. Before delivering tyres, companies are encouraged to ознакомиться with the campaign rules, which will be sent to the email address provided in the application form once the registration has been confirmed.
“During the first campaign, more than 120 companies, including transport and logistics businesses as well as companies operating their own vehicle fleets, took advantage of the opportunity to dispose of used tyres free of charge. Interest was exceptionally high, which is why we are continuing the campaign during the summer to ensure that even more used tyres are responsibly recycled instead of being stockpiled for long periods. Advance registration enables us to organise tyre collection more efficiently by allocating specific delivery times and reducing waiting times at the collection site,” says Uldis Skrebs, Member of the Management Board of AJ Power Recycling.
Large accumulations of used tyres pose environmental and safety risks. By handing them over for responsible recycling, their negative environmental impact can be reduced while recovering valuable materials for reuse. After collection, tyres undergo pre-processing, are sorted and prepared for further recycling. At specialised recycling facilities, they are processed into rubber granules used in the production of sports surfaces, mats and various other products, as well as in construction, including road building.
Companies will be able to dispose of tyres free of charge at the 3R waste management complex, 4 Atlasa Street, Riga, from 20 to 31 July, following advance registration at www.3r.lv/akcija. To ensure an organised collection process, advance registration is mandatory for legal entities. Tyres will only be accepted during the pre-booked time slot. Deliveries without prior registration and electronic confirmation will not be accepted.
Passenger vehicle tyres will also be accepted free of charge from private individuals. During the campaign, up to four passenger vehicle tyres without rims may be delivered per vehicle. Tyres from trucks, agricultural machinery and industrial equipment will not be accepted. Private individuals may deliver tyres on a first-come, first-served basis on weekdays between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. at the 3R waste management complex, 4 Atlasa Street, Riga.
Outside the campaign period, passenger vehicle tyres can be disposed of for a fee at sorted waste collection sites and other tyre collection points. These collection sites also accept lead-acid and other types of batteries, oil filters and lubricating oils. A list of collection sites is available at https://ajpower.lv/laukumi.
