Just one week from now, from 15 to 18 July, the 28th Saulkrasti Jazz Festival 2026 will take place in Saulkrasti, Latvia. This year’s festival places a special spotlight on rhythm and the art of drumming, offering an extensive concert programme, the Baltic Drummers League, and the festival’s traditional jazz masterclasses for young musicians.

The festival’s headline international guests will be acclaimed French drummer Nicolas Viccaro with his project “Nicolas Viccaro Xperience”, as well as the US–UK jazz ensemble Enterpley, featuring charismatic vocalist Cheryl “Pepsii” Riley.

This year’s programme will also feature two Latvian big bands presenting exclusive performances. Ventspils Big Band, together with pianist and composer Anna Wibe, will perform music from her new album Spectrum. It will be the only opportunity this year to hear the album performed live in its entirety. Meanwhile, Latvijas Radio Big Band has prepared a special high-energy tribute to legendary jazz drummer Buddy Rich. To mark the occasion, the band will take the stage with three outstanding drummers – Artis Orubs, Andris Buiķis, and Kristaps Jānis Sokolovs.

Among the festival’s international stars will be Nicolas Viccaro, widely regarded as one of Europe’s most sought-after and distinctive jazz drummers. With his project “Nicolas Viccaro Xperience”, the French musician blends modern jazz with rock and world music. Throughout his career, Viccaro has performed alongside internationally renowned artists including Hans Zimmer, Bill Evans, Étienne Mbappé, John McLaughlin, Richard Bona, and Mike Stern.

The US–UK jazz collective Enterpley will bring a programme that combines jazz with strong soul and R&B influences. The group will feature the captivating vocals of Cheryl “Pepsii” Riley, while its rhythmic foundation will be provided by acclaimed drummer Nathaniel Townsley.
