On 5 May 2026, the vessel STEN ARNOLD arrived at the Port of Riga, at the berth of SIA PARS TERMINĀLS, delivering 12,000 tonnes of aviation fuel from Norway. The shipment was organised by SIA PARS TERMINĀLS in cooperation with SIA NAFTIMPEKS, demonstrating effective and coordinated cooperation between strategic partners.
This delivery is an important confirmation of Latvia’s ability to ensure stable and uninterrupted aviation fuel supplies even in crisis conditions, while also diversifying its cooperation partners. It should be noted that in February this year, the first vessel carrying aviation fuel from the United States arrived at the Port of Riga. Together with today’s shipment from Norway, this clearly demonstrates Latvia’s ability to build a secure and diversified supply chain in cooperation with trusted international partners.
The delivered aviation fuel will be transported to Riga Airport, supplying the airlines operating at Riga International Airport.
“In the current geopolitical circumstances, stable aviation fuel supply is more important than ever. It ensures the uninterrupted operation of Riga Airport and the airlines based there, strengthening Latvia’s position as a Baltic aviation hub. This successful delivery confirms that we are able to cooperate swiftly with various strategic partners, and we can count on such and similar cooperation expanding in the future,” said Minister of Transport Atis Švinka.
Minister of Economics Viktors Valainis said: “Latvia’s ability to diversify its supply sources is critically important for the resilience of our economy. Cooperation with partners such as Norway and the United States allows us to be confident in the uninterrupted availability of energy resources.”
Freeport of Riga CEO Ansis Zeltiņš said: “This delivery clearly demonstrates the strategic importance of the Port of Riga in energy resource supply chains. We are working purposefully to strengthen Latvia’s energy security and ensure logistics continuity even in complex geopolitical circumstances.”
Nellija Geiba, Member of the Board of SIA PARS TERMINĀLS, said: “In cooperation with SIA NAFTIMPEKS, we ensure the highest quality and safety standards in aviation fuel logistics. We are pleased with our ability to handle international shipments and efficiently ensure their onward transportation to the airport.”
The aviation fuel delivered by the vessel STEN ARNOLD represents a significant contribution to Latvia’s energy supply security and confirms the country’s ability to respond flexibly to global challenges while ensuring the continuous availability of critically important resources.
