Tallinn, Vilnius and Kaunas were the most popular destinations from Latvia for international passenger carrier FlixBus this summer, the company informed LETA.
According to FlixBus data, people from Latvia also frequently traveled to other cities in the Baltic region, including Pärnu, Tartu and Panevėžys.
For longer journeys, travelers from Latvia most often went to Warsaw and Berlin.
Some passengers also used FlixBus for extended trips across Europe. The longest routes taken by Latvian travelers this summer were to Seville in Spain and Lisbon in Portugal, the company said.
Kamila Zalewska, FlixBus Eastern Europe Business Director, noted that in autumn, travelers from Latvia tend to visit major European cities outside the Baltic states. “In summer, people prefer short and affordable trips to neighboring countries, but in autumn they are more likely to travel to cities where they can enjoy a broader range of museums, concerts, and other cultural activities,” Zalewska added.
FlixBus offers direct connections from Latvia to ten countries: Austria, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Finland, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland, Slovenia, and Germany. In total, the company operates 53 routes across the Baltic region.
FlixBus is a brand owned by the German company FlixMobility GmbH.
