The Lithuanian energy project company MT Group has signed a major contract on building topside and onshore-based infrastructure at a new jetty for the German Brunsbuttel liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal.

“The contract was awarded by Worley, which is the project’s engineering lead,” MT Group said in a news release on Monday. “This was done on behalf of Deutsche Energy Terminal GmbH (DET), which is Germany’s state-owned operator of floating storage and regasification units.”

“The agreement marks a pivotal milestone in strengthening the company’s presence in Western Europe’s most critical energy transformation efforts,” it added.

MT Group told BN that it would not disclose the value of the contract.

The company will install pipelines, electrical and engineering networks, and link the LNG terminal systems to the infrastructure of the quay.

The project is part of a second phase of development as Brunsbuttel’s LNG terminal, and the process will relocate the facility to a permanent position at the jetty.

This is MT Group’s second project with the German company.  Last year it signed a contract with  Gasfin to build and install a 50 MW heater facility.

MT Group had previously worked with German partners on the Klaipeda LNG terminal in Lithuania and Elergin’s Paldiski LNG terminal in Estonia.
