Tallinn’s urban development practices and digital solutions attract international attention

This autumn, several international delegations have visited Tallinn to learn about the city’s experience in urban planning, innovation, digital governance and sustainable urban mobility.

On 16 October, Tallinn hosted a study visit from a Chinese delegation organised by the World Bank. The delegation was introduced to Tallinn’s experience in developing blue-green infrastructure, applying the green factor and integrating climate-resilient solutions into planning.

On 28–29 October, a delegation from the City of Riga visited Tallinn. During the visit, the delegation was introduced to Tallinn’s urban planning principles, cooperation with real estate developers and the city’s long-term development strategy Tallinn 2035.

On 28 October, Tallinn met with the Chair of the Aichi Prefectural Assembly, Taro Kawashima, and his delegation, who were introduced to Tallinn’s digitalisation and e-service solutions.

On 29 October, Tallinn received a delegation from the Government of Catalonia’s Representation for the Nordic and Baltic countries, led by the Head of the Representation, Montserrat Riba. The meeting focused on the development of Tallinn’s digital services, as well as discussions on international cooperation and city diplomacy.

On 29 October, the Minister of the Interior of the Sarajevo Canton of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Admir Katica, also visited Tallinn with his delegation. The meeting focused on innovation and the Test in Tallinn programme.

On 4 November, H.E. Dato’ Sri Lee Kim Shin, Minister of Transport of Malaysia’s Sarawak State, visited Tallinn. The delegation was introduced to the city’s activities in environmentally friendly mobility, climate-neutral goals in public transport and mobility, traffic safety improvements and the use of drones in transport planning.
