Lux Express invests in bus ticket machines

The international bus company Lux Express has invested nearly EUR 15,000 in the development of long-distance bus ticket machines at the Riga International Bus Station and the Liepaja Bus Station, LETA has been told by company spokespeople.

Lux Express says that the introduction of self-service ticket machines will speed up the process of buying a ticket, and it will be more convenient for passengers. The ticket machines are programmed to offer all available discounts for senior citizens, young people and other eligible groups.

Lux Express Latvia board member Aldis Kibens points out that the new machines in Latvia, and particularly in Liepaja, are a very important step toward further development. This is because of rapid growth in the Liepaja-Riga route, with much passenger demand and the fact that Lux Express has not had its own ticket office at the Liepaja station.

Kibens says that no additional service charge will apply to the purchase of tickets from the machines. It will be possible to purchase them up to 90 days in advance for the intended journey.

Last year Lux Express transported more than 200,000 passengers along domestic routes in Latvia.

The company earned revenues in 2023 of EUR 1.735 million, which was 73.4% more than the year before. Lux Express earned a profit of EUR 8,497, as against a loss in 2022.

Lux Express Latvia was registered in 1994 with a share capital of EUR 193,404. It is owned by Lux Express Estonia, which is registered in Estonia.

The Lux Express Group offers international long-distance services to major Baltic cities, as well as Warsaw. There are also domestic passenger services in Latvia and Estonia.
