Baltic Pavilion at EXPO 2025 Osaka invites you to become an exhibit designer

The Baltic Pavilion of the EXPO 2025 Osaka World Exhibition was officially unveiled at the History House of the National Museum of Lithuania, and all Lithuanian citizens were invited to create it together.

Lithuania and Latvia’s message to the world – We are one

The Baltic Pavilion at the international exhibition EXPO 2025 Osaka in Japan will showcase Lithuania and Latvia as two Baltic nations where people, valuing their centuries-old bond with nature, harness knowledge, courage to open up to the world, receptiveness to innovation, creativity, and a spirit of sharing to make responsible decisions. These decisions not only preserve what we have today but also shape a better future for generations to come,” said Ambassador Lina Antanavičienė, Lithuania’s Commissioner General for EXPO 2025 Osaka, during the presentation of the exhibition.

She highlighted that this year’s Lithuanian and Latvian slogan, We are one, sends a message to the world about the unity of these nations and their responsibility for every step and decision made with a deep understanding that today’s actions will impact not only the future of the Baltic countries but also that of people worldwide.

“It does not matter whether we are talking about an individual’s step, a business leader’s decision, or the responsibility of an entire state – in today’s global world, we are all connected, we are all Mes / We,” said L. Antanavičienė.

At the event, opening remarks were delivered by the Ambassador of Latvia to Lithuania, Solveiga Silkalna, and a representative of the Embassy of Japan. The concept of the Baltic Pavilion was presented by Laura Slavina and Arthur Analts (Association Kettler). Pavilion partners in attendance included Romualda Stragienė (Innovation Agency), Šarūnas Celiešius (Rural Business and Market Development Agency / Litfood), and Olga Gančarova (Travel Lithuania).

Anyone can take part in the exhibition – the organisers are inviting video clips

It was also announced that anyone wishing to contribute to Lithuania’s representation on the global stage can send their own filmed video clips to the pavilion’s creators. These submissions will be used to create a video that will be showcased in the pavilion’s exhibition.

Until 1 April, the pavilion’s creators are accepting vertical video recordings filmed in Lithuania at video@weareone.shop. The submitted videos should highlight the uniqueness of Lithuania’s nature across all seasons, showcase innovations, celebrate special occasions and national achievements, and present the country’s rich history and culture.

This year’s exhibition theme is “Designing a Future Society for Our Lives.” Reflecting this idea, the central feature of the Lithuanian and Latvian pavilion will be an interactive installation—a green glass wall symbolising the lush Baltic forests and our planet.

Thanks to smart technology, condensation will form on the glass, allowing each visitor to leave a personal message – a fleeting trace that encourages reflection on one of the greatest challenges of our time: building a socially responsible and environmentally friendly society. It will also serve as a reminder of the footprints we leave behind as consumers and as a society.

The main installation, along with the entire Lithuanian and Latvian pavilion, will offer a deeper insight into the nature, culture, and innovation of both countries, as well as their commitment to technological progress that prioritises both people and the environment.

EXPO 2025 Osaka – a unique opportunity for Lithuania to be noticed in the world

According to R. Stragienė, Lithuanian businesses should pay attention to – Japan the world’s fourth-largest economy– and the opportunities it offers. “Participating in EXPO 2025 is a great opportunity for Lithuanian companies to showcase their products and services in the Japanese market, particularly in the fields of smart cities, mobility, renewable energy, digital technologies, and the Internet of Things. Although our countries are geographically distant, we complement each other well with our respective strengths: Japan has a large domestic market and major corporations, while Lithuania boasts a dynamic startup and innovation ecosystem. Even our medium-sized companies appear to the Japanese as fast-moving startups,” said Stragienė.

As O. Gančarova notes, participating in EXPO is an opportunity for Lithuania to gain global visibility and reach travelers from distant markets who would otherwise be difficult to attract. “With limited resources for tourism promotion, this platform allows us to effectively showcase our country and highlight what makes us unique. Today’s travelers seek experiences – relaxation in nature, wellness rituals, and authenticity. That’s why we will be presenting the Lithuanian sauna, which naturally aligns with Japan’s growing sauna culture. EXPO not only helps raise awareness of Lithuania but also allows us to create an emotional connection with travelers from other cultures, inspiring them to discover our country,” she said.

Millions of visitors to Japan to learn about Lithuania’s food and beverage sector

“We are proud to have the opportunity to contribute to the presentation of Lithuania in Osaka and to represent the innovative and unique Lithuanian food and beverage sector, which surprises the world. Through food, we discover commonalities between cultures and foster international partnerships, and the cooperation between Lithuania and Japan will be perfectly embodied in our project ‘AmaZen’ – an innovative drink that combines Lithuanian mineral water and traditional Japanese amazake. This is a dialogue of flavors and traditions that inspires new discoveries and strengthens ties between nations,” says Š. Celiešius.

Less than a month ago, the Lithuania and Latvia pavilion was presented in Tokyo. The exhibition in Osaka will take place from April 13 to October 13. It will feature 160 countries and 9 international organizations. The exhibition is expected to attract over 28 million visitors from around the world.
