The hostage situation at a bank in the western German town of Sinzig is concluded, police said on Friday.

Two apparent victims were found uninjured, a police spokesman said, adding that the search for the perpetrators is ongoing.

A raid was carried out by special police forces, who found the two people locked in a room. Police believe that the perpetrator or perpetrators left the scene via an as yet unknown route.

Initial police findings suggest several perpetrators held hostages in the bank branch in Sinzig in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate. One of the hostages was reportedly the driver of a cash transport vehicle.

Several hundred officers were deployed, and a large area was cordoned off around the bank.
