Christians around the world today celebrate one of the most important events of their faith – Easter, which marks the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. This event stands at the very core of Christianity, symbolizing hope, renewal, and the triumph of life over death.

According to the Bible, Jesus Christ was crucified and buried, but on the third day – Sunday – He rose again. The Gospels describe how women who came to the tomb found it empty. As stated in the Gospel of Matthew (28:6): “He is not here; for He is risen, as He said.” Similar accounts are found in the Gospel of Mark, Gospel of Luke, and Gospel of John, all affirming the resurrection of Christ as a divine miracle.

In Christian teaching, the crucifixion of Jesus is not seen as an accident or a defeat, but as part of a divine plan for the salvation of humanity. Humanity is understood to be marked by sin — a separation from God caused by disobedience and moral failure. Within the tradition of the Scriptures, reconciliation with God required sacrifice, and Jesus is seen as the ultimate and final sacrifice.

The Gospel of John (3:16) expresses this idea clearly: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” By willingly accepting death on the cross, Jesus takes upon Himself the sins of humanity, restoring the broken relationship between God and people.

This idea is further emphasized in the First Epistle of Peter (2:24): “He Himself bore our sins in His body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness.” The resurrection that follows confirms that death and sin do not have the final word, offering believers forgiveness, renewal, and the promise of eternal life.

As written in the Epistle to the Romans (5:8): “God demonstrates His own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” In this way, Easter carries a deeper message — that through sacrifice comes redemption, and through faith, a renewed relationship with God becomes possible.
