In January–November, new car registrations in Latvia increased by 32.7 percent, outpacing the European Union (EU) average, according to the latest data published by the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA).

During the first 11 months of 2025, a total of 21,068 new passenger cars were registered in Latvia, the data show.

The fastest growth in new car registrations among EU countries was recorded in Lithuania, where registrations rose by 41.1 percent.

Meanwhile, the sharpest declines were reported in Estonia (-45.6 percent), Malta (-17.2 percent), Belgium (-9.2 percent), and France (-4.9 percent).

Across the EU as a whole, new car registrations increased by an average of 1.4 percent. In the broader group of 31 ACEA countries, which includes non-EU members, registrations rose by 1.9 percent in January–November 2025.

At the same time, sales of Tesla, the U.S. electric vehicle manufacturer, fell sharply. Tesla registrations in the EU declined by 38.8 percent year on year in the first 11 months of 2025, including a 34.2 percent drop in November alone. Media reports suggest that some potential buyers are avoiding Tesla vehicles in protest against the political activities of the company’s owner, Elon Musk.

The ACEA report covers all EU member states as well as Iceland, Norway, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.
