Dzineta Innusa, CEO at Riga municipal public transport company Rigas Satiksme, is not ruling out that parking fees could be increased in Riga.
Parking fees could be raised in the busiest areas of the city, including in the city center, Innusa said in an interview with Latvian Radio. Innusa did not specify though when raising the parking fees could be considered by Rigas Satiksme.
Meanwhile, there are no plans to review public transport fares in Riga. Innusa believes that changes to the ticketing system introduced earlier this year have been quite successful.
According to Rigas Satiksme, fees at parking lots operated by the company are decided by Riga City Council, but currently the issue is not on the municipality’s agenda.
Rigas Satiksme earlier said that it was planning to modernize its parking lot administration system to make parking lot management and control more efficient.
