Almost two-thirds of people in Latvia (66%) report having considered a career change during the past five years. This was reported by the P&C Insurance company to LETA on the basis of a survey which it had commissioned.

Primary reasons cited by respondents for wishing to change jobs included low pay (43%), the desire for a job with more meaning or value added (29)%, and the need for more flexible working hours (27%). Women were significantly more likely than men (34% as against 19%) when it came to the issue of flexibility, and that was particularly true among women with children.

One in five respondents cited a lack of career development in their current job as a reason for a change.

The survey data mark a significant trend, with increasing numbers of people rethinking career choices not only in terms of jobs, but also their work experience.

The survey was conducted in April 2025 in co-operation with the Norstat research agency. 501 residents of Latvia aged 25-65 were surveyed.
