175 cars have been stolen in Latvia in the first ten months of this year, according to information gathered by the State Police.
BMW, Volkswagen, Audi, Toyota, Volvo, Opel, Lexus, Ford, Hyundai and Mercedes-Benz cars are among the most frequently stolen.
The 10 most popular models for carjackers were the BMW 3 Series, 5 Series and X5, Volkswagen Golf and Volkswagen Passat, Audi A4 and Audi A6, Toyota RAV4, Hyundai Tuscon and Kia Sportage.
Representatives of the insurer Balta, a member of PZU group, informed LETA that the thieves not only target new and expensive vehicles, but older and simpler ones as well.
