14 vehicles confiscated from drunk drivers to be handed over to Ukraine

The government has decided to donate to Ukraine another 14 motor vehicles confiscated from motorists in Latvia for drunk driving.

The vehicles are intended for the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, National Guard as well as for local municipalities.

The estimated market value of the vehicles Latvia is sending to Ukraine is slightly over EUR 68,000.

Pursuant to the Civilian Support Law of Ukraine, state-owned vehicles may be transferred to the Government of Ukraine free of charge to help address the consequences of the war-related emergency in Ukraine and support Ukrainian society. This is another way Latvia will help Ukraine in the fight against Russian aggression.

The State Revenue Service (SRS) cooperates with the Agendum Association in the transfer of vehicles confiscated from drunk drivers to Ukraine, which with the help of the so-called Twitter Convoy will ensure the delivery of the vehicles to Ukraine and transfer to Ukrainian government institutions, performing all necessary actions and covering all related expenses.

Agendum receives requests for assistance from various Ukrainian government institutions regarding the need for vehicles. The SRS provided the association with an up-to-date list of vehicles belonging to the state, which the association evaluated according to the received requests for assistance. The SRS offers cars that are in good driving condition for evaluation.
