Turnover of Getlini Eko down 0.5% in H1

Getlini Eko, the operator of Getlini landfill, turned over EUR 24.309 million in January-June, which is 0.5 percent less than in the same period last year, while the company’s profit decreased 3.2 times to EUR 551,546, according to information released by the company.

Revenue from waste management came to EUR 21.479 million in the first half of this year, EUR 2.276 million were generated from vegetable sales, and electricity generation brought in EUR 547,300. Revenue from the sale of other annual crops was EUR 4,600, while revenue from the sale of recycled materials was EUR 1,600.

According to the company’s management report, while waste sorting increased in the first half of 2024, the amount of household and industrial waste continued to fall.

The company management also notes that on January 1, 2024, new tariffs on waste disposal at Getlini Eko landfill came into force.

According to the management report, the fall in electricity prices on the NordPool exchange contributed to a fall in revenue from electricity generation. In the first six months of this year, Getlini Eko successfully continued producing waste gas, generating about 11.03 gigawatt hours of electricity, most of which was sold on the open market.

The company also continued to operate its greenhouse complex successfully, ensuring efficient use of the heat produced, as well as vegetable production, the management report said.

In the first half of this year, Getlini Eko invested EUR 1.6 million in fixed assets.

The management report states that Getlini Eko’s business operations and finances allow for planning stable operation and development of the company in the coming years.

The management report also states that the company has developed and submitted to the Public Utilities Commission a new tariff plan for municipal waste disposal, which will enter into force on September 1, 2024.

In the first half of 2023, Getlini Eko had a turnover of EUR 24.423 million and a profit of EUR 1.778 million.

Getlini Eko was registered in November 1997 with a share capital of EUR 6.009 million, according to Firmas.lv. The company’s capital is 97.7 percent owned by Riga City Council, and 2.3 percent by Ropazu Municipality.
