The prices of travel are increasing every year, said Rolands Birgelis, Chairman of the Board of tour operator Tez Tour, in an interview with LETA.
He said that, as in Latvia, other countries also experience inflation, which affects the overall costs.
He cited Turkey as an example, which accounts for the largest market share for Tez Tour, where it can be seen that over the past decade the exchange rate of the lira has changed from about one euro to ten lira to one euro to 39-40 lira.
“Prices have gone up for both people and hotels. In addition, in hotels it is catering that is the biggest cost, and there prices have risen very substantially. In Europe it is exactly the same,” said Birgelis.
He said that prices can therefore only be regulated if there is competition between hotels and better offers can be obtained, but that the overall price level has risen in all countries.
