Latvia’s Road Traffic Safety Directorate (CSDD) issued 2,919 new driving licences during the first two months of this year, which was 6.9% more than during the same period in 2024.
According to directorate data, 1,506 of the licenses were issued to women (12.5% more than last year), while 1,413 went to men (+1.6%).
As of March 1 of this year, there were 889,235 valid driving licenses in Latvia, which was an increase of 0.2% against the same time last year. Of these, 44.7% (397,375) were issued to women, and 55.3% (491,860) were held by men.
The CSDD issued a total of 15,947 licences to new drivers in 2024, 16,355 in 2013, 17,791 in 2022, 15,687 in 2021, 18,193 in 2020, 18,643 in 2019, 16,792 in 2018, 19,373 in 2017, 21,457 in 2016, 21,608 in 2015, and 21,226 licences in 2014.
