Scammers trying to gain entry to homes under guise of checking smoke detectors

The Estonian Rescue Board has received reports of scammers on the move attempting to gain entry to people’s homes under the pretext of checking their smoke detectors.

The Rescue Board stressed that their inspectors always wear a uniform and carry a certificate of employment. In addition to Rescue Board officials, home visits are also carried out by professional and volunteer rescuers and representatives of G4S Estonia.

The Rescue Board is asking that people ask to see the rescuer’s certificate of employment, while a G4S representative can be recognized by their clothing and proof of employment.
