Over 92,000 people file tax returns with Revenue Service by Friday morning

Over 92,000 individual taxpayers filed their tax returns in the first hours by 9 a.m. Friday, LETA was told at the State Revenue Service.

Representatives of the Revenue Service said that the Electronic Declaration System (EDS) withstood the heavy load last night and is working smoothly.

However, due to the high number of people logging into the EDS last night and in the morning, users may not be able to log in with the eParaksts and eParaksts Mobile authentication tools. The Revenue Service therefore asks people to use their EDS username and password for authentication for now.

From Friday, March 1, residents can start submitting their annual tax returns for 2023 in order to recover overpaid taxes.

Experience from previous years has shown that as early as midnight, people rush to file their tax returns in large numbers on the first day, often causing the overloaded EDS to crash.

The Revenue Service underlines that there is no need to rush to file the tax returns. The tax returns can be filed voluntarily for three years to recover eligible expenses. However, residents who are required to file their tax returns must do so by June 1 or, if their total income last year was more than  EUR 78,100, by July 1.
