The number of US-owned companies operating in Lithuania has doubled to 119 this year, as against 59 in 2020, the Creditinfo Lietuva credit bureau reported on Tuesday.
The bureau’s analysis also showed that the combined revenues of the firms has all but doubled during the last five years. Preliminary data show revenues of EUR 602.5 million in 2024, with the total workforce increasing 2.2 times over to 5,086 employees.
Creditinfo Lietuva adds that 59% of US-owned firms are in the services sector, 10% in wholesale and retail, 8% in finance, 8% in manufacturing, 7% in transportation in real estate, and 3% in construction.
“This distribution shows that US capital is primarily being invested in high-value-added services,” the agency’s CEO, Jonas Lukosius, declared in a news release.
The credit bureau went on to say that the risk of delays among US-owned companies remains stable, while the share of those with a high risk of bankruptcy has decreased in recent years, this suggesting improvements in financial discipline and stability.
US-owned companies have increased their contributions toward Lithuania’s national budget during the past five years, transferring EUR 8.9 million in social security contributions to the social insurance fund Sodra during the first quarter of 2025. This is as against EUR 22.8 million during the whole year in 2021.
In 2023, Mars Lietuva was the US-owned company with the highest revenues in Lithuania (EUR 241.4 million), followed by Lintus (EUR 34.2 million), Shift4 Payments Lithuania (EUR 25.5 million), Kinze Europe (EUR 23.1 million), Viltechmeda with EUR 18 million, and RIA Lithuania (EUR 17.6 million).
Data about revenues in 2024 will be available in late May.
Mars Lietuva also tops the list in terms of created jobs, with 803 employees in 2025, followed by Shift4 Payments Lithuania (560), Lintus (497), Guidehouse Lithuania (456), Bazaarvoice (188), Revel Systems (166), Strategic Staffing Solutions International (143), Probonas (140), Viltechmeda (134), and Kayak Lithuania (110).
