Lietuvos Oro Uostai (Lithuanian Airports, LTOU), Lithuania’s airport operator, has announced that the upcoming flight from Vilnius to Tel Aviv has been cancelled.
“The next flight from Vilnius to Tel Aviv and back was scheduled for tomorrow, but Wizz Air has already cancelled it. We have not yet received any information about the cancellation of other flights,” the airport operator told BNS.
Earlier today, the Foreign Ministry urged Lithuanian citizens not to travel to Israel and to leave Iran immediately due to heightened tensions in the Middle East.
The ministry is also urging people currently in Israel, Iran, Syria, Iraq, Jordan, Palestine, and other countries in the region to exercise extreme caution, stay informed through the media and announcements from Lithuanian diplomatic missions, and follow the instructions of local authorities regarding safety measures.
The Foreign Ministry additionally advises Lithuanian citizens in Israel to register via the Travel Safely app or through its website, providing contact information and as many details as possible about their situation.
Israel launched strikes on Iran’s nuclear and military facilities early Friday morning and has vowed to continue military operations. Several sites in Iran were hit, with reports of explosions in the capital Tehran and at a major uranium enrichment facility.
A heightened state of alert has been declared in Israel, with airspace closed, flights suspended, urban shelters opened, and citizens urged to stay near shelters and follow updates from civil protection authorities. According to the Foreign Ministry, this situation may persist for an extended period.
