Those lucky instances when a public holiday falls on a Friday or a Monday, giving most workers three uninterrupted days off.
Employees in Lithuania can expect six long weekends in 2026, including one in the summer and an extended Christmas break.
The first nonworking day of the year will be January 1, New Year’s Day, which falls on a Thursday.
Lithuania’s State Restoration Day (or the first Independence Day) on February 16 will be marked on a Monday, giving workers their first long weekend of the year. Independence Restoration Day (aka the second Independence Day) on March 11 will fall on a Wednesday.
Easter will come relatively early in 2026, on April 5-6, Sunday and Monday, as usual providing a long holiday weekend.
