Lithuania’s FM warns of flight cancellations to Israel, calls on citizens to leave country

The Lithuanian Foreign Ministry recommends citizens to assess the necessity of traveling to Israel and those who are there to leave in view of possible escalation in the region and the cancellation of flights to Israel.

According to the ministry’s press release issued on Saturday, due to the difficult and unpredictable situation and the growing tensions in the Middle East, more and more flights to Israel are being cancelled or suspended temporarily, reducing the possibility of leaving the country on commercial flights.

“We recommend that you assess the need to travel to Israel, and for Lithuanian citizens currently in Israel who wish to leave the country, we recommend that you do so as soon as possible,” the Foreign Ministry said.

Lebanon’s Tehran-backed Hezbollah group has been exchanging near-daily fire with Israeli forces, saying it is targeting military positions over the border, since its Palestinian ally Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, sparking war in Gaza.

Iran said on Saturday it expects Hezbollah group to hit deeper inside Israel and no longer be confined to military targets after Israel killed the Hezbollah military commander.
