Lithuanian PM: Solutions needed for Teltonika project

Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Simonyte has said that she personally assured the CEO of the Teltonika company, Arvydas Paukstys, that solutions will be found after the Lithuanian technology group complained about bureaucratic hurdles which it has faced during the construction of its Teltonika High-Tech Hill Park in Vilnius. The project is worth several billion euros.”

“This is a project of great importance for Lithuania and for this government, and I am very sorry that unforeseen obstacles have emerged at some stages of its co-ordination,” the prime minister said in a statement. “Solutions to deal with these problems were discussed today by the relevant institutions, and they will soon be presented.”

The mayor of Vilnius, Valdas Benkunskas, has said that the project will be completed on time.

Prime Minister Simonyte added that the announcement by Teltonika that it is suspending its project was very unexpected and that she was sure that all necessary solutions could be found to ensure that the project will be completed successfully.

Earlier on Friday, Paukstys had announced that he was suspending work on the EUR 3.5 billion high-tech park in the Liepkalnis area of Vilnius because there was “no hope” that the necessary amount of electricity will be secured by 2027. There have also been excessive delays in achieving the transformation of the relevant plot of land for industrial use.
