The LT72 mobile app for public emergency preparedness has been downloaded by nearly 62,000 people in its first month since launch. According to the Lithuanian Ministry of the Interior, the app is expected to reach 100,000 users by the end of the year.
“The app was launched to the media and the public on March 10 this year and is available to all users via the App Store and Google Play. It has already been downloaded by nearly 62,000 people. The project aims to reach at least 100,000 users by the end of this year,” the ministry said in a statement sent to BNS.
“Overall, we have set ourselves a rather ambitious goal – the LT72 logo, along with the mobile app and the website that serves as the main source of information on emergency preparedness, should eventually become known to every citizen in the country,” the ministry added.
According to the ministry, the app not only provides useful information but also features an interactive map of Lithuania with data on warning sirens, collective protection structures, shelter locations, and population assembly points. It also includes a knowledge quiz.
In the future, the app is expected to be integrated into the national alert system to deliver warnings about imminent threats, complementing the multi-channel information and alert system currently in development.
The LT72 app was developed at the end of last year.
