FL Technics, which is part of the Lithuanian Avia Solutions Groups, has opened a maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) facility in Bali.
The group which is owned by Lithuanian businessman Gediminas Ziemelis, says that the facility’s construction cost around EUR 23 million, with all of the financing coming from the group.
The new MRO facility in Bali covers 17,000 m2 and is expected to consolidate the group’s position in Southeast Asia.
“This facility is a testament to our commitment to aviation growth in Asia and Australia,” FL Technics Group CEO Zilvinas Lapinskas declared in a statement. “Airlines will be able to uphold the highest standards of safety and efficiency.”
The six-bay maintenance hub has been purpose-built to handle classic and next-generation models from the Boeing 737 and the Airbus A320 families, including current and new engine options. Regional demand for such aircraft has been on the rise, and the new facility has production shops and offices to deal with the issue. More than 500 new jobs have been created in the local economy.
The facility is part of the group’s expansion strategy in Southeast Asia. It plans to build an additional hangar complex at Jakarta Airport next year. Once that is done, FL Technics will be able to service 20 aircraft at any onetime in Indonesia.
FL Technics provides services in Vilnius and Kaunas, as well as the United Kingdom. It is also building a new hangar at Punta Cana Airport in the Dominican Republic.
According to the Lithuanian Centre of Registers, FL Technics experienced 19% revenue growth to EUR 175 million last year, with a net profit of EUR 9.7 million. That against a loss of EUR 1.2 million in 2022.
