Lithuania scraps external visa services in Lebanon, Jordan, Sri Lanka

The Interior Ministry said on Tuesday that foreign nationals will not be able to apply for Lithuania’s residence permits and visas via external service providers in Lebanon, Jordan and Sri Lanka as of March.

The decision to remove the countries from the list comes after consultations with the relevant authorities on threats to national security, the ministry said in a press release.

In India, the external service provider’s services in applying for temporary residence permits will only be available to family members, highly skilled workers, intra-corporate transferees, lecturers, researchers and students.

Interior Minister Agne Bilotaite has approved a list of external service providers in 31 countries. The list was drawn up by the Migration Department.

A foreign national can submit their application for a temporary residence permit to the Migration Department through an external service provider. If the department grants the request, the foreign national can collect their permit from the external service provider abroad and come to Lithuania.
