Latvian prime minister proposes new AI Centre

Latvian Prime Minister Evika Silina has posted on Twitter to say that a key priority for the minister of smart administration and regional development, Inga Berzina, will be the establishment of a new Artificial Intelligence Centre in Latvia.

Other priorities will include cutting regulatory bureaucracy about spatial plans, as well as the development of Latvia’s capital city of Riga as a metropolis, the premier said.

Berzina will also be expected to boost the development of infrastructure and economic growth on Latvia’s eastern border, as well as on the development of a network of shelters in the country.

The prime minister has been meeting with government ministers to discuss the implementation of her government’s priorities in 2025. So far she has met with 11, with three remaining – Foreign Minister Baiba Braze, Health Minister Hosam Abu Meri, and Agriculture Minister Armands Krauze.
