Strong interest in the Business Matchmaking Event held during Economic Representatives Week highlights the growing demand for practical export support. This week, representatives from 148 Latvian companies participated in 417 individual consultations on business opportunities across 31 international markets. The event was jointly organized by the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The matchmaking event offered entrepreneurs consultations on 31 foreign markets, as well as access to individual support from LIAA’s Client Experience Manager, experts from the Enterprise Europe Network, and representatives of the Latvian Technology Centre. During the consultations, companies discussed the potential of specific markets, industry trends, business networking opportunities, and available government support instruments for export development.

“For entrepreneurs, timely access to reliable information and trusted contacts is essential when making decisions about entering new markets. The matchmaking event enables companies to gain, in a single day, knowledge that would otherwise take months to acquire. The fact that all consultation slots were fully booked and demand exceeded available capacity also confirms the importance of LIAA’s network of international representatives. Companies need a reliable partner that can help them navigate foreign markets, establish valuable contacts, and make informed decisions about growth beyond Latvia,” said Ieva Jāgere, Director of LIAA.

The matchmaking event is one of the practical tools through which Latvia’s economic representation network provides businesses with access to market intelligence, contacts, and expertise in international markets. The event brings together representatives of Latvia’s diplomatic service and LIAA offices abroad, fostering a coordinated approach to supporting export growth and identifying new business opportunities for Latvian companies.

Since 2025, LIAA and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have jointly implemented training and professional development programs for economic representatives, strengthening a unified approach to representing Latvia’s economic interests abroad. This cooperation allows for more effective coordination of export promotion, investment attraction, and international business development activities.

This year’s Economic Representatives Week placed a special focus on innovation and the commercialization of scientific research. As part of the program, participants visited Riga Technical University to explore Latvia’s capabilities in defence technologies, space technologies, biomaterials, semiconductors, and quantum technologies. The purpose of the visit was to enhance economic representatives’ understanding of Latvia’s high-tech sectors and their potential for international recognition and commercialization.
