Increase in wage offers continued in Estonia in Q2

The average gross salary range offered in job advertisements in Estonia in the second quarter of 2024 was from 1,633 to 2,142 euros a month, 12 percent higher than during the same period in 2023, statistics available from the job portal CVKeskus.ee shows.

Compared to the first quarter of the year, pay offers decreased by 5 percent.

The growth in pay offers was driven by job offers for middle managers and top professionals, for whom the average offer hit a record 3,317 euros per month, rising by as much as 20 percent over the year.

Compared to a year earlier, pay offers for mid-level professionals and other office workers changed little in the second quarter, rising by just 2 percent to 2,455 euros.

Wage offers for skilled workers and professional workers increased by 8 percent year on year to 2,075 euros in the second quarter, and for service and sales workers by 10 percent to 1,529 euros.

The lowest average wage offer was for unskilled workers, at 1,419 euros, up 6 percent on the year.

In Harju County, including Tallinn, wage offers increased by 15 percent over the year, reaching 2,231 euros in the second quarter, by 10 percent in Tartu County, including Tartu, to 2,066 euros, and by 4 percent in Pärnu County, including Pärnu, to 1,719 euros.

“Alongside the increase in pay offers, a reduction by about one-fifth in the number of job offers was registered in the first half of the year compared with a year ago,” said Grete Adler, recruitment manager at CVKeskus.ee.

In July, however, employers were more active than usual, which led to a noticeable deceleration in the decline in the numbers of job offers in several major sectors, and even to minor increases in some. For example, in the construction sector, 3 percent more job offers were posted in July than in July 2023.

CVKeskus.ee is the most visited job portal in Estonia, offering the largest selection of vacancies. The pay comparison by CVKeskus.ee is based on 6,691 job offers with publicly listed salaries. It’s important to note that employers usually provide a salary range rather than a fixed wage in their job offers, as the final salary can be influenced by bonuses and the actual skills and experience of the employee.
