During the first two months of 2025, first-time registration of passenger cars in Latvia increased by 3.9% year-on-year, with 8,091 automobiles registered during that period. The information comes from the Latvian Road Traffic Safety Directorate (CSDD).

The vehicles that were registered for the first time in January and February included 1,371 lorries (down 8.4% against the same period last year), 28 buses (down 2.1 times), and 337 motorcycles and trikes (-22.3%).

The list also includes 104 scooters (+4%), 21 quadbikes (four times less than a year ago), and 913 trailers and semi-trailers (+3.8% on the year).

The total number of transport vehicles registered during the first two months of 2025 was 10,865, which was 0.2% more than during the same period in 2024.

The first-time registration of motor vehicles in Latvia declined by 6.1% in 2024 to 81,280 vehicles, including 57,873 passenger cars.

The CSDD is the state-owned enterprise in Latvia which registers motor vehicles, issues driver’s licences, and conducts traffic worthiness examinations for vehicles.
